Chamomile. More than just delicious.

Chamomile is a delicious tea most everybody is familiar with. Most notably seen as a calming tea, its benefits go much deeper. Through the lens of Chinese medicine, chamomile acts directly on the liver, decreasing inflammation and regulating constrained qi that can manifest as irritability and inhibit the smooth flow of qi throughout the body. When liver qi becomes stagnant, the emotions are impaired and the muscles may also be affected adversely, manifesting as muscle spasms, pain or stiffness.

Chamomile naturally stimulates the liver and increases detoxification and therefore impact digestion, hence its use for stomach upsets.

For a calming affect, the tea is brewed gently and steeped 3-5 minutes. For a more medicinal brew, double the dosage and extend the brew time to 15-20 minutes. By doing so you will extract more of the bitter tannins associated with the detoxification attributes of the herbs.
